As Zouk Capital continues to grow, we are looking for an Investment Manager with experience in the UK and/or Nordics to join our technology investment team in London. The team currently consists of 8 investment professionals and has recently raised a new growth equity fund, Cleantech Europe II.
A successful candidate for the open position in our technology investment team will have the following characteristics:
• Professional background: A minimum of 5 years professional experience in principal investing, general management, operations, investment banking, or consulting. Investment experience is ideal.
• Professional networks: Strong professional networks in either UK, Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland
• Languages: Fluency in English and ideally 1-2 Nordic languages (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish)
• Education: Top grades from a leading university, ideally in engineering, natural sciences, business or finance
• Investing skills: Strong analytical skills, ability to develop stringent investment hypotheses and a compelling investment case for internal investment decisions
• Independence: Ability to work independently in a non-hierarchical environment; this will require strong intrinsic motivation and a high level of professional discipline
• Affinity for businesses: Interest and experience in active, hands-on dealing with businesses; this includes the appetite to work closely with senior and middle management in building growth companies
• Seniority: Ability to deal with senior counterparties at target companies, banks, intermediaries and portfolio companies
• Leadership: Ability to develop, mentor and lead junior members of the team
In his/her role the Investment Manager will be expected to contribute to Zouk’s growth in terms of:
• Deal support: Support and co-lead deal teams along the entire investment process, including deal origination, company and industry analysis, due diligence process management, internal investment documentation, deal execution, portfolio monitoring and exit preparation; hands-on assistance to portfolio companies in areas such as internal improvement, reporting and strategy formulation can be an important part of the role
• Research: Identify and conduct research on selected investment sectors
• Deal sourcing: Assist in sourcing of investment opportunities in the UK and Nordic cleantech market
• Leadership: Develop, mentor and lead junior members of the team
An Infrastructure Private Equity Analyst (circa. 2 years' experience) is required to join the growing Infrastructure team.
The initial role will be as an analyst in the Infrastructure Team with responsibility for project and financial modelling, deal assessment and execution, and general analytics.
- Financial modelling: running and developing financial models in order to analyse project opportunities
- Deal assessment and execution: working with the team to assess and execute project investments. This will include conducting due diligence, financial review, preparation of presentation material for investment committee etc.
- Portfolio monitoring: assist in the monitoring of investments in the portfolio
Skills and Qualifications:
Approximately 2 years' experience in renewable energy and environmental infrastructure is preferred otherwise experience in project / infrastructure finance. To be effective in the role candidates should have the following background and experience:
- Highly numerate with financial modelling (project finance) and evaluation skills
- A keen interest in renewable space
- Additional language skills apart from English
- Strong academic background (minimum 2:1 or equivalent qualification)
- Strong team player
